CPP has launched a new adjustable flow control valve specifically designed for the modern type II GM power steering pump. This advanced valve allows users to customize the sensitivity and responsiveness of the power steering according to driving speeds.
It offers nine different settings that control the flow rate between 1.75 and 3.75 gallons per minute. By setting the flow rate to a lower level, the static pressure can be adjusted from 100 to 425 PSI, which decreases the initial power assist and provides a more natural steering experience. On the other hand, increasing the flow rate allows the power assist to activate with less steering effort.
It is essential to understand that the overall power assist remains unchanged; the valve only affects the initial engagement of the power steering system. For example, if it requires 3 lb/ft of torque to turn the steering wheel while parking, this torque requirement will not vary regardless of the selected adjustment position.
