Bill Williams of Orange, California stopped by our showroom here in Placentia, California in a new-to-him 1955 Chevy 3100 pickup. So, of course, we had to step outside to check it out.
According to Bill, he picked up the pickup just a few months ago for something to work on and drive. When we say “picked up” we mean he went out to Las Vegas, Nevada to buy the 1955 Chevy 3100 and, better yet, drove it all the way home by himself! Looking back on it, Bill told us making that drive was probably a little more of a risk than he’d normal take.
With the ’55 pickup back home, Bill spend the last couple months doing basic maintenance and getting the truck more roadworthy. This included everything from fresh fluids to new bushings all around. Next on his list was to replace the janky-old steering column that is in the truck with a new steering column from ididit—hence the reason he stopped by our showroom in the first place.
Underneath the truck are some well-used CPP suspension, steering and brake components which is a sight we like to see. That includes a complete Mustang II IFS Kit and Brake Booster Kit. For power, the 1955 Chevy 3100 is sporting the tried and true 350/350 combination (that’s a 350 ci small-block Chevy and TH350 automatic transmission to the uninitiated). Bill’s plan for the pickup is simple: keep on making it better and driving it all the while.
